Painting porcelain – Materials

Glazed items can be refreshed by baking in a hot oven. However, this method has its downside. High temperature may darken the binders, enlarge fissures and cracks, cause some fillers to shrink. The previously repaired item may even become detached. Ceramics should be baked in special ovens. The tiniest speck of household oven fat can ruin a painting. So it's best to use a cold-curing varnish.
Lakier chemoutwardzalny, available at paint stores, it is perfect for glazing ceramics. Lacquer, after mixing with the hardener, freezes within 12 hours. Use a clearcoat for the final finish. There is also a white variety, which you can use as a suspension for mixing colors.

If you want to choose the right shade, use art pigments, available in shops for artists in all colors. Buy small amounts, they are very strong.

Acrylic paints
Colors you, water-soluble, they are best suited for painting patterns on porcelain. After the paint is dry, you need to protect it with a layer of clear varnish.

Metallic paints
Gilding imitation can be obtained by mixing gold and silver pigments with varnish.
This powder can be purchased at art and model stores.

Golden flakes
Real gold in flakes is very expensive and requires a lot of practice to apply. You can also buy imitation gold flakes, in various shades.
