Maintenance of plastics
Furniture and other plastic surfaces should be cleaned with a damp cloth with care, so that they are not scratched by grains of dust. Wash more severe stains with washing-up liquid, then rinse with water and dry thoroughly.
Laminate surfaces are cleaned in the same way, remembering to rinse thoroughly to prevent streaks. Plastic bathtubs are best cleaned with special pastes that do not scratch the surface, and the lampshades with warm water and detergents. Stains on tableware are removed
dentures cleaning fluid or a paste containing sodium bicarbonate. Do not use scouring agents. Remove any stains and fresh stains immediately, to prevent further damage.
It is better to wash soft plastics with a water solution of detergents than with pastes, which make, that the surface becomes sticky.
Bonding plastics
Cracked and broken plastic tableware is a hotbed of bacteria, so it should be thrown away. However, furniture and toys can be perfectly glued with a suitable binder.
Contact adhesives perfectly glue ABS plastics (utensylia, tool handles), hard plastics from the PVC group (shower cabins, furniture) or decorative laminates (table tops). After lubricating both surfaces and waiting for a few moments, they are pressed together.
The colorless glue is suitable for polystyrene (bathroom equipment, furniture) and soft PVC (curtains, blinds). Epoxy resin adhesives are the most expensive, but also the strongest. They are used for bonding thermosets (door handles, switches), nylon (kamisze) i acetalu (krany).
Removing stains
Stains not easy to remove, e.g.. with ink, can be eliminated by rubbing toothpaste on them with your fingertip, preparation for cleaning dental prostheses or baking soda.
After a few minutes, the area should be washed off. Some stains disappear under the action of dishwashing liquid.
